Jay Watch Training

Volunteers are needed for the 2011 field season. Jay Watch season is right around the corner (mid-June through mid-July), and we hope you can be a part of it this year! We have some trainings coming up soon, so if you’re near scrub-jays, there is a training near you:
Saturday, May 14th, Lyonia Preserve, Deltona, Volusia County
Monday, May 23rd, Shamrock Park, Venice, Sarasota County
Saturday, May 28th, Little Manatee River Southfork tract, Manatee County
Saturday June 4th, Royce Ranch, Lake Placid, Highlands County
Thursday, June 9th, Jonathan Dickinson State Park, Tequesta, Martin County
Saturday, June 11th, Lake Kissimmee State Park, Lake Wales, Polk County
All the trainings will be from 8:00am until 12:00 pm unless otherwise noted. If you’re already trained, you do not need to attend another training but it can be helpful to refresh your skills, especially for band-reading. We will be sending you updates on the survey dates at each location as we get more information.
It's a really fun project working with such dynamic birds and interesting people. If you would like to sign up for a training or to survey a site, or if you have any questions, please call or email me at (352) 732-1225 or Claire.Sunquist@myfwc.com with your name and contact number. I hope to see you in the scrub!
If you have any questions about these upcoming trainings or any other information, please contact Claire Sunquist at Claire.Sunquist@myfwc.com or at (352) 732-1225.
