Oyster Shell Project

Volunteers Needed for Oyster Shell Project at Schultz Nature Preserve

Date: Thursday, December 6, 9AM - 12PM
Location: Williams Park Boat Ramp, 8749 U.S. 41, Riverview 33578
Registration is required.
Goal: To restore lost habitat systems to the bay, prevent further erosion of the shoreline and improve water quality through natural biological filtration.

Additional Information

The project will involve shoveling fossilized shell into mesh bags, transporting the bags via boat and placing oyster shell bags on the shoreline to create a series of oyster bars.

Volunteers should wear clothing they don't mind getting wet or dirty, closed toe shoes or water shoes, hat, sunscreen, bugspray and bring a water bottle.
